Spring News ........

Spring News....

Such a yummy time to be doing yoga, the weather is warm, the smell of jasmine is in the air and the body possibly feels a little more lithe and limber due to the warmer weather.
A wonderful time to get to a class, and peel back those Winter layers.
A new "Healing Space" for Yoga and Mindfulness based Stillness Meditation is up and running at Curramore. This has been a long held dream to create this space and I am very excited to see it come to fruition.
I am holding another Mindfulness based Stillness Meditation course on the week-end of the 9th - 10th of November 2013. Saturday and Sunday from 9.30am - 4.30pm. 
This course is suitable for every level of practitioner, from the beginner to the experienced.

What is it: Mindfulness based Stillness Meditation course

Time: 9.30am- 4.30pm each day

Well,  winter is here with us on the Sunshine Coast and yep its chilly times.

Winter is a time when yoga classes traditionally drop in numbers - as a yoga
teacher I know this to be a fact - I love the challenge of winter!

 Its a time when yoga teachers know the importance of looking after their students,
keeping everyone warm, working at a deeper level and stoking the inner fire
through our deep breathing techniques.
 Our yoga flow can be deeper, holding our asanas for longer (when will she suggest we take that next breath!)

Lets remember to drink water.  Warmer water works well in winter and how so
often we dont drink because we dont naturally feel thirsty but REMEMBER to important time to keep hydrated.
Enjoy the warming foods in winter - nothing like a warm bowl of soup after class.

In your home practice,  the importance of keeping our joints well lubricated in
winter.    Rotating the ankles, hips, knees and wrists is so important....will keep
the synovial fluids flowing through the joints.

 Layered clothing in yoga classes and loving ourselves to keep
moving in winter will ensure we dont hibernate TOO much.

Clarity Through Yoga and Meditation Retreat

Hi  every-one, 

Liz Newman and myself (Melissa Borich) are holding a retreat at Chenrezig Institute, Eudlo.

It shall be quite an intimate retreat as we can only accommodate 12, we have access to the motel style rooms, single or you may share  if you feel to.

We have lots of lovely practices in store, details are below,

When :  October 25th Friday 3.00pm, completes 27th Sunday 3.00pm

Where : Chenrezig Institute @ Eudlo

Cost: $230 for yoga, meditation, and activities. Accommodation and food is extra and payable directly to Chenrezig @ $110 ( depending on choice of motel accom, single or share)

Content: This weekend retreat shall include

  • Progressive Muscle Relaxation sequences
  • Guided meditation practices, morning and evening
  • A flowing morning practice of yoga postures
  • Breathing practices to sooth and deeply replenish
  • Restorative yoga, less is more,very healing
  • Partner yoga 
  • Time for reading/reflecting/ exploring Chenrezig

Facilitators: Melissa Borich and Liz Newman have taught yoga and meditation for many years in the form of classes, workshops, courses and retreats. Liz is a qualified yoga therapist, and Melissa has trained at the Gawler Foundation in Mindfulness- based Stillness Meditation.

Mindfulness Based Stillness Meditation

6 week course


Hello to every- one,

I am starting another MBSMeditation course in March. This course is held in the evening every Thursday over six weeks.

Mindfulness Based stillness Meditation is the practice of paying close attention to the present moment and observing your thoughts and body sensations with an attitude of gentle curiosity and non - judgement.

This course offers 4 easy steps on the how to. We explore your own direct experience, as well as going into the theory on how we think and the nature of the mind.

No experience is necessary, suitable for the very beginner or to a more experienced practitioner.

The details are as follows

What is it: An in - depth six week course (Thursday evenings) 

Where is it held: Maleny Neighbourhood Centre (17 Bicentenary Lane Maleny Qld)

Time: 6.00pm - 7.30pm every Thursday evening

Cost : $150 .00 (this includes take home info, and a MBSMeditation cd)  

What to bring: A note-pad and pen,wear comfy clothing, water, a meditation shawl if you like, cushion.
Chairs are at available at the venue
